Community Vegetable Garden in Clark County at Nevada Extension

At the end of the growing season in late summer, my cousin and I took in the demonstration vegetable garden put on by the Master Gardeners at the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension – Clark County, located in the Las Vegas community.
Though much of the food had been harvested, the planting beds still offered ideas anyone planning a food garden could use for growing next season.
Demonstration and trial gardens put on by your local county extension and Master Gardeners’ organization are good places to get energized. Local MGs can be relied on for sound advice in growing all sorts of plants.
Three bamboo poles tied into a tripod support pole beans and provide a center to hang a set of long chimes. Vertical garden structures can be man-made, but may also be constructed from plant material. The three-sisters-companion planting is a classic example of vertical gardening.
Plants of eggplant, squash, and pumpkin still had fruit waiting to be harvested.

County extension offices are open to the public in most states, but search the Internet for exact times and directions. If you are in town to see Las Vegas, the University of Nevada Extension – Clark County and Master Gardener organization makes a nice side trip for all gardeners.
